For many years the Loxton Hotel Motel has been sourcing their produce from suppliers dotted throughout the Riverland community, knowing that if they wanted the freshest and tastiest ingredients for their dining creations that they need only look in their own backyard.
Touted as the Fruit Bowl of Australia, the Riverland offers access to the finest quality, fresh and clean fruit, vegetables, meats, poultry, nuts, grains, seeds and so much more. Head Chef, Greg Janssen has been working at the Loxton Hotel Motel for over 20 years and is a keen advocate for the ‘Eat Local’ philosophy, and also ensures that all elements on the plate are made fresh and from scratch each day.
Sourcing local ingredients means that guests can enjoy a truly authentic experience, with a seasonal bistro menu providing a combination of superb seasonal specials which feature fabulous, fresh, local produce and traditional favourites.
One unique ingredient that is always on the menu, however is the renowned River Murray Cod, which is sourced from a local fish farm that also provides farm fresh herbs and leafy vegetables. Protected in the wild, this farm fresh Murray Cod provides a delicate and light flavour to any dish and is a must try when you visit, whatever the season. Don’t forget to ask the friendly and knowledgeable staff to suggest a local wine, cider or beer to pair with your meal.
